Take a look around your office. Besides your desk and chair, what else is in it? Everything else could be considered an accessory. At Alliance Corporate Services, we don’t just sell office furniture. We help our clients add the extras, a.k.a. accessories, to their office that will make it feel like their space.

In fact, we have had so many requests for office accessories that we have a new web album on our website called “Accessories” with all kinds of interesting items. Think clocks, magazine racks, waste receptacles, planters, display cases, floor mats, glass boards, free-standing room dividers, lighting, shelving and yes, even beverage carts.

Now that you know what we offer, here are some things to think about when accessorizing your office space:

  • ORGANIZATION – Accessories that keep your office organized are a must in every work space. Keeping track of important dates  with a good calendar and a good filing system are key. A desk organizer, mail holder, paper tray and a paperweight are good items to have too. Think about adding a decorative clock to help keep track of important meetings throughout the day. Having the right accessories can not only make your office look good, but boost productivity.
  • PERSONALIZE IT – Just like an outfit, accessories can help show off your personality, so choose them wisely. Create a wall calendar using your own family photos or hang up an inspirational saying or picture in your office to motivate or inspire you and your employees. Bring in family photos, but put them in a nice frame. Even mundane items, like a waste receptacle can be personalized by selecting a wastebasket in a bright, bold color, like neon pink, to make your own mark. Whatever accessories you choose, make sure they show off who you really are.
  • LIGHT IT UP – The light fixture you have in your office is an accessory. If you want to warm up your office, choose a decorative lamp to brighten up a room, add a floor lamp to an empty corner space or if you’re allowed, add some string or decorative lights to your cubicle that will not only light up the area, but show off your quirkiness and personality. Light is essential in any office space, but it can add charm too.
  • AVOID CLUTTER – Here’s the big problem I have with accessories, if you chose too many, your office space can look messy and cluttered. Just like any good decorator would recommend when re-designing a room, make sure you choose a focal point in your office, such as a large print over your desk. Once you have a focal point, then you can carefully choose the accessories you want to complement it.

Coat racks, USB ports and even business card holders are accessories. We have all of that if you need it, so check it out on my website.
